I am Laura. I’m the 45 year old mother to two boys (17&13) and wife of 23 years to Willem. I am a homeschooling mom who works full time outside the home as a business part-owner. I enjoy writing, planning stuff, reading, crafty things and cooking. I ride a Kawasaki Ninja that I love and have studies martial arts off and on for years.
I also suffer from severe anxiety. Fortunately, medications keep it under control and I’m able to function quite well. I love the idea of gardening but kill everything I plant. I love my cats to distraction. I have too much to do and not enough time to get it done.
I am Willem Dykstra 51 years old and happily married to Laura. In my life I have worn a lot of “hats”. Here are some of the jobs that I have had that made me who I am: lifeguard, construction / maintenance worker, child care worker, child care license holder, bus driver, day-camp site director, ropes course lead facilitator, computer technician and sample administrator for an environmental lab. When I am not working, some of the things I like to do to relax are reading fiction, wood working, leather work, geocaching, photography (film and digital), videography, camping, kayaking, canoeing, making things and teaching others how to make things. On a more personal note two of my day to day philosophies: If you want something done right, do it yourself. Gibbs rule number nine. The big things in my life right now are: taking care of my family, scouts, teaching Thing 1 how to drive, playing taxi driver and teaching myself wordpress design. Yes, I also have a motorcycle.
